Amy Poehler Curates Rooftop Film Series at The McKittrick Hotel

The McKittrick Hotel (542 West 27th Street), home of the immersive theater spectacle Sleep No More, announces a summertime rooftop film series curated by film and television icon/comedienne AMY Poehler beginning on July 14, 2015 and continuing throughout the summer and early fall atop The McKittrick, the one-stop nightlife destination in Chelsea.

Poehler has chosen some of her favorite films from a variety of genres and decades, and they will be presented in a private garden space called The Farm, an extension of the rooftop garden bar and restaurant Gallow Green. Seating up to thirty audience members per screening, each ticket comes complete with popcorn, a specialty cocktail and a breathtaking view of Manhattan, each film selected for the series will be screened multiple times over the course of a week. The films currently slated for the film series, chosen by Poehler, are:

  • The Jerk (dir. CARL Reiner, 1979) - 14th July - 20th July
  • Rushmore (dir. Wes Anderson, 1998) - 21st July - 27th July
  • Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (dir. Mel Stuart, 1971) - 28th July - 3rd August
  • The Bicycle Thief (dir. Vittorio De Sica, 1948)- 4th August - 10th August
  • Bonjour Tristesse (dir. Otto Preminger, 1958) - 11th August - 17th August
  • To Kill a Mockinbird (dir. Robert Mulligan, 1982) - 18th August - 24th August
  • Sixteen Candles (dir. John Hughes, 1984) - 25th August - 31st August
  • West Side Story (dir. Robert Wise& Jerome Robbins, 1961) - 1st September - 7th September
  • The Apartment (dir. Billy Wilder, 1960) - 8th September - 14th September
  • Hannah and Her Sisters (dir. Woody Allen, 1986) - 15th September - 21st September
  • Rosemary's Baby (dir. Roman Polanski, 1968) - 22nd September - 28th September
  • The list of films is subject to change.

AMY Poehler currently stars as the voice of 'Joy' in the critically acclaimed smash Pixar film Inside Out. She recently wrapped seven seasons of the popular NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation," for which she received multiple Emmy® nominations for acting, writing, and producing. For her performance as Leslie Knope on the show, she also won a Golden Globe Award and the American Comedy Award, among many other honors. She is also well-known for her Emmy® nominated work on "Saturday Night Live" from 2001-2008, as well as her much-discussed hosting duties opposite Tina Fey at "The Golden Globe Awards" from 2012-2015. Among her various film and television credits as writer/producer/actor: Mean Girls, "Broad City," "Arrested Development," Baby Mama, and "Upright Citizens Brigade," among countless others. Also an accomplished author, her memoir Yes Pleasebecame an instant best-seller when published in 2014. In 2011, Poehler was included on TIME's "100 Most Influential People in the World" list.

Created by UK-based Punchdrunk and produced in New York by EMURSIVE, Sleep No More tells Shakespeare's classic tragedy Macbeth through a noir-inspired cinematic staging.

Sleep No More is but one of the features of The McKittrick Hotel, which also houses the rooftop lounge Gallow Green, the jazz-age inspiredManderley Bar, and the fine dining experience The Heath, a full-service restaurant.
