IMG, a global leader in entertainment, sports, events and fashion, and The Ink Factory, a multi-platform production company dedicated to high-end story-telling through film, television and digital, today announced that THE NIGHT MANAGER, the critically acclaimed drama interpreted from John le Carré's spy novel, will come to Amazon Prime Video in the US, UK and Japan later this year. Prime members will be able to stream or download at no additional cost to their membership and in Japan, Prime Video will be the only destination to watch the series.
"We're focused on providing our customers with compelling, must-see series that raise the bar for entertainment," stated Brad Beale, Vice President of Digital Video Content Acquisition for Amazon. "Prime members love having access to gripping, distinctive series like Orphan Black, The Americans and Downton Abbey, and we're thrilled to announce that The Night Manager will be added to the collection of binge-worthy TV available on Prime Video later this year."
Stephen Cornwell, co-CEO at The Ink Factory added, "The Night Manager is a truly international production, and we're delighted that the series is continuing to cross both platforms and territory boundaries with such success. Amazon is a fantastic partner to have on this project and we look forward to seeing it launch on Prime soon."
"We couldn't be happier that Amazon is joining this show as our primary SVOD partner," says WME | IMG partner Chris Rice, "particularly given the show's great literary heritage, we feel it will be a perfect fit for their audience."
The Night Manager recently premiered in the US on 19th April on
AMC to rave reviews from customers and critics alike. This follows its completed 6-week run in the UK on a ratings high, consistently winning its time slot with an average of up to 8M viewers per week.
Directed by Academy Award® winner, Susanne Bier (In a Better World), The Night Manager stars two-time Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie (House) and BAFTA nominated Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, War Horse) and co-stars Emmy and BAFTA winner Olivia Colman (Broadchurch), BAFTA nominee Tom Hollander (Rev), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) and David Harewood (Homeland).
A contemporary interpretation of le Carré's espionage drama - and the first television adaptation of a le Carré novel in more than 20 years - The Night Manager brings together love, loss and revenge in a story of modern criminality. The eagerly anticipated series follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) as he navigates the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), Pine must himself become a criminal.
Published in 1993, The Night Manager is one of le Carré's most beloved and critically acclaimed books. A
Fusion of spy story and tale of organized crime, the novel was a global hit, translated into over 20 languages and selling millions of copies.
This announcement marks IMG's continued expansion into entertainment sales. In addition to continuing working alongside The Ink Factory on The Night Manager, IMG recently recruited former Paramount International Television Executive Gary Marenzi as Head of Entertainment Sales & Partnerships, underscoring the company's commitment to growth in this field.
