According to the LA Times, Amanda Seyfried is rumored to be taking on the title roll in "The Girl With the Red Riding Hood," an upcoming project from "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke.
The LA Times states that the film will be "an update of Little Red Riding Hood, with the requisite dark/dangerous/romantic elements that can appeal to "Twilight" fans -- while also attracting audiences who simply like the fairy tale."
The LA Times reports that there is no set production timeline for the film as of now, but Warner Bros. is hoping to finalize the deal with Hardwicke this month and get momentum going for the project.

Seyfried is best known for portraying the role of Sophie in the maga-hit movie adaptation of MAMMA MIA! She is also known for playing the role of ditzy Karen Smith in Mean Girls, in addition to appearances in Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, Alpha Dog, American Gun and Nine Lives. Her TV credits include "Veronica Mars," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Big Love," on which she plays Sarah Henrickson.
