During tonight's grand finale of Telemundo's "LA VOZ KIDS," #TeamRoyce's Amanda Mena was named the winner of the second season of the popular singing competition. Hosts Daisy Fuentes and Jorge Bernal announced the 11 year-old girl from Lynn, Massachusetts as the "2014 La Voz Kids" winner, in a much anticipated finale that featured performances by International music star David Bisbal, Regional Mexican act Calibre 50, and Coach Roberto Tapia, who premiered his new single, "Mi Niña." Selected by the audience vote, Amanda will receive a recording contract from Universal Music Latin Group and a cash prize from AT&T consisting of $50,000 to support her education, plus a $10,000 cash price from the Chrysler Corporation.
Chosen among thousands of kids that auditioned for the highly-rated reality show, Amanda earned a standing ovation from all three Coaches with her performance of "Because of You" (
Kelly Clarkson) during her Blind Audition. Throughout the Battles and Semifinals, she consistently showed a unique singing talent and stage presence week after week, leading up to her final performance tonight of
Ariana Grande's smash hit "Problem."
Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Amanda Mena's parents have instilled in her that "dreams can become a reality, if you work hard and stay humble." Singing has always been an all-time passion for the talented young artist, whose dream is to become a music legend like her idol the late
Whitney Houston.
"Dreams do come true," said Amanda after she was pronounced the winner. "I came here wanting to learn music, and I have - I will always be #TeamRoyce. Thanks to my supporters in Dominican Republic, the people from Lynn, Massachusetts and my Coach, Prince Royce."
"I'm blessed to be part of her career and to have seen her growth throughout the show," added Prince Royce. "Amanda has a natural talent and I am extremely proud and honored to have been her coach."
The two finalists of "La Voz Kids" second season were #TeamTapia's Natalia Loya from Downey, California, and #TeamNatalia's Leslie Mendoza from Bensenville, Illinois. They also received a $10,000 cash price from the
Chrysler Corporation.
The emotional "La Voz Kids" finale featured performances from music superstars including Coach
Roberto Tapia who presented the worldwide premiere of his new single, "Mi Niña." International superstar
