Amanda Bynes Hospitalized on 'Involuntary Psychiatric Hold' After Lighting Fire

TMZ is reporting that Amanda Bynes has been hospitalized on an involuntiary psychiatric '5150 Hold.' According to the report, the troubled actress lit a small fire in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks,CA homeowner on Monday night.

After someone reported the small blaze, the local fire department and Sheriff's department responded at approximately 9 pm and found Bynes standing by the flames and carrying a "little red gas tank." The homeowner, who appears to have no relation to the actress, reported that a portion of Bynes' clothing had been burned.

Based on the responses the 'Hairspray' star gave the sheriff's deputies, it was determined that she needed to be hospitalized on a '5150 hold' for further mental evaluation. She can be held in the hospital up to 72 hours.

At 8:35 AM PT this morning, TMZ spoke to the homeowner in question who revealed that she was unaware what had taken place until the police knocked on her front door. She reports that law enforcers asked her, "Do you know anyone by the name of Amanda Bynes, or why she would have some vendetta against you?" to which the elderly woman replied, "no."

Bynes has recently been in the news for a series of odd behavioral encounters which have led to legal troubles. The actress began her career as a cast member on the Nickelodeon television series All That, The Amanda Show, and What I Like About You. In the 2000s, she appeared in teenage-oriented films including Big Fat Liar (2002), What a Girl Wants (2003), Love Wrecked (2005), She's the Man (2006), Hairspray (2007), Sydney White (2007) and Easy A (2010).
