Variety reports that Allison Janney has joined Christina Hendricks in Campbell Scott's film adaptation of Joan Didion's A BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER.

Based on Didion's 1977 novel, Hendricks will play a woman, Charlotte Douglas, who arrives in Central America in a country on The Edge of a revolution in search of her fugitive 19-year-old daughter. The story is told by an anthropologist, Grace Strasser-Mendana, who married into the ruling family (Janney).
Scott will make a cameo in the film as Douglas' husband, with Hart Bochner set to play the missing girl's father.
Janney last appeared on the big screen in The Way, Way Back. Her upcoming projects include Light Years, Days and Nights, the TV series Masters of Sex and Mom, Tammy, and Mr. Peabody & Sherman. She is well known for her role as 'C.J. Cregg' on The West Wing. Her other film credits include The Help, Juno, The Hours and more. Janney has appeared on Broadway in 9 to 5: The Musical, A View From the Bridge and Present Laughter.
