Alicia Keys will have DJ Khaled as her key advisor on the upcoming season of THE VOICE. In an interview with "Extra's" Terri Seymour, Keys revealed why she was so "excited" to have Khaled on the show. She said, "I feel like it's so incredible to have the diversity that I'm able to bring to the show, especially through Khaled... I feel like there's so many ways to look at music, there's so many ways to create. It's not just about being a great performer, it's about being a personality, for the energy that you bring to come out. I think that is what Khaled does very naturally."
DJ Khaled responded to Keys' compliments with a metaphor, saying, "If
THE ROOM is dark, I'm the lightbulb... I try to bring the best out of the people I work with."
As for how the gig came out, Khaled revealed that he "got a text from the team." He added the opportunity gives him a chance to possibly collaborate with Keys on a new song, too! When Terri joked that it was his "master plan," Khaled responded, "It is connected. It was perfect."
Alicia also gushed about
Gwen Stefani, who is returning to the judging panel for Season 12. Though they are friends, Alicia joked that Gwen was on Blake's side. She said, "Me and Adam are trying to defeat [them]."
Khaled predicted that Alicia was going to win this season, saying, "We gotta put it out there. We're gonna do it. We're gonna work hard. We're gonna make it happen."
Earlier today, it was announced that Céline Dion will be
Gwen Stefani's key advisor on the 12th season.
John Legend will be helping
Adam Levine's team this season, while Blake will get some help from his close pal
Luke Bryan.
"The Voice" returns February 27.
