MTV today announced that global star and singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, along with breakout rapper KYLE will join an extensive line up of performers for the "VMAs," airing live from the "Fabulous" Forum in Inglewood, CA, on Sunday, August 27th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. This year marks both artists' first time performing on the "VMA" main stage. Additional performers for the show include Kendrick Lamar, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony and more.

Alessia Cara received four nominations for the "VMAs" including the coveted, "Video of the Year," "Best Direction," and the newly-introduced "Best Fight Against The System," which celebrates videos that inspire viewers to stand up and fight injustice, for her hit song "Scars to Your Beautiful." She also received a nod for "Best Dance" for her song, "Stay." Chart-topping rapper, KYLE, was also nominated for "Best Visual Effects" for his 3x platinum hit song "iSPY," and dubbed one of this year's MTV "PUSH: Artist to Watch."

The full list of nominees for the show is available here.

Award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter and Def Jam Recordings artist Alessia Cara emerged onto the music scene in 2015 with the release of her iconic anthem "Here." "Here" garnered over 500,000 total streams in its first week, going on to become Spotify's Most Viral Song of 2015 selling over 3 million copies. A five-track EP, Four Pink Walls, soon followed before the release of the full-length certified platinum KNOW-IT-ALL. Last summer Cara supported Coldplay on their European and North American tour before hitting the road for her headlining 'KNOW-IT-ALL PT II' tour. Alessia lent her voice to "How Far I'll Go," the official song for Disney's animated film Moana, penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Her multi-platinum #1 hit single, "Scars to Your Beautiful," is Cara's gut-wrenching take on female identity, on body image and on deleterious behaviors in the name of beauty. Cara walks listeners through heartache but concludes with strains of promise: "There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark /You should know you're beautiful just the way you are." Her most recent #1 hit with Zedd, "Stay" has sold over 2 millions copies and has been called the "song of the summer". A JUNO award winner for 2016 Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Cara has also been nominated for an AMA for Best New Artist of the Year, People's Choice Award for Favourite Breakout Artist, Billboard Award for Best New Artist, BET Award for Best New Artist, BBC Awards for Song of The Year, and 5 MTV VMAs, to name a few.

KYLE knew at an early age that music was his destiny. As a kid, the Ventura, CA rapper went on a journey to develop one of the most unique voices in music. These days KYLE's raps have made him a household name, with his breakout chart-topping single "iSpy (feat. Lil Yachty)," now RIAA-Certified 3X platinum, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs and #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song - which was released in December - has amassed over 300 million streams. The video for "iSpy," directed by Colin Tilley, has nearly 121 million views on Youtube and received an MTV VMA nomination. 2017 has already proven to be the year of KYLE. The 24-year old rapper has been named as part of XXL's annual Freshman Class for 2017, gracing the publication's esteemed cover. KYLE has also recently delivered performances on high profile stages, including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, TEEN CHOICE AWARDS 2017, BET AWARDS 2017 Red Carpet Special, the ACSCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards and more.
