Alec Baldwin may be heading to NBC's late-night lineup if studio execs get their way.

According to The New York Times, a deal with Baldwin to join the the network is in the "initial stages," a source confirmed to the publication. Should Baldwin sign a deal, he would reportedly bump Last Call with Carson Daly from the airwaves, and his half-hour talk show would take Daly's spot.

NBC is in the midst of a late-night overhaul, recently announcing that Jay Leno would be stepping down from THE TONIGHT SHOW, with Jimmy Fallon replacing him. LATE NIGHT, Fallon's current gig, will soon be in need of a new host when he departs - rumors point to SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Seth Meyers as his successor.

Baldwin currently hosts an interview-style podcast out of New York City, titled "Here's the Thing." Since its inception, he's proven his conversational chops with such guests as Lena Dunham, Billy Joel, and David Letterman.
