According to Variety, actor J. August Richards will join the cast of the new Lifetime drama series 'The Lottery'. The show will debut on July 20th of this year.
'The Lottery' is set in a post-apocolyptic world in which women have mysteriously stopped bearing children. When a scientist is miraculously able to fertilize 100 embyros, the president calls for a lottery to be held to determine which women will act as surrogates for the embyros. Richards will play a foreign diplomat assigned to travel overseas by the president following the announcement of the lottery.
The series will feature Marley Shelton, Michael Graziadei, David Alpay, and Athena Karkanis, and was created by Timothy Sexton.
Richards will continue his recurring role on ABC's superhero drama 'Marvel's Agents of Shield', and is also slated to appear in Bravo's 'Girlfriends Guide to Divorce'.
