Welcome to Welcome to Black History Month 2009. Here is whats coming up on AfroSolo TV.
A Tribute to Ave Montague
A few months ago, AfroSolo had the honor and privilege of interviewing Ave Montague, founder San Francisco Black Film Festival on AfroSolo TV. The untimely passing of Ms. Montague is an indubitable loss to our arts community. In homage to her, I offer this interview as a tribute and acknowledgement of her life, her work and her commitment to showcasing the works of African American filmmakers. Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWY6P0PC_8AOriginally from Buffalo, Raja now makes her home in the Western Addition of San Francisco. Under the tutelage of Dr. Helen Dilworth and Judy Hubbell of City College of San Francisco and with the mentoring of Jim
Larkin, she is developing a unique style all her own, hugging notes and rounding out phrases with dynamic ease. Her developing style has been described at "sultry and intimate".
She has performed with artists such as David Hardiman Jr., the Herbert Mims, Jr. Quartet, Bill Bell, (The Jazz Professor), the San Francisco All Stars, Maestro Curtis. and Jaye' Richardson.
Raja is also a Massage Therapist, and has volunteered her services in many AfroSolo Health Fairs and other events serving the community.
