Advance Tickets for THE HOBBIT Go On Sale This Wednesday, 11/7

As Deadline reported this weekend, advanced tickets to Peter Jackson's upcoming, sprawling epic THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY are set to go on sale this Wednesday, Nov. 7. Tickets are available online or at theater box offices beginning at 12 PM Eastern Time. The film opens Dec. 14.

”We’re expecting a big result as we start the journey for all 3 films,” a Warner Bros executive said.

In addition, the studio is hosting a LORD OF THE RINGS marathon in select theaters nationwide on Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9 - advanced tickets for the weekend-long event go on sale this Wednesday, as well.

THE HOBBIT follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on December 14, the Peter Jackson film stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood,Evangeline Lilly, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O'Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, Aidan Turner and Billy Connolly.
