Adult Swim announced today the season two pickup of Newsreaders, an absurd take on the television newsmagazine, from the creative team behind the two-time Emmy(R)-winning series Childrens Hospital. Production on the new season begins in Los Angeles, CA in January 2014.

Reacting to the news of the second season pickup, the producers released The Following statement:

"We are proud and humbled to be the most-watched news show* on cable television."

The series is from Abominable Pictures and Warner Bros. Television Group's digital venture Studio 2.0, and is distributed by Warner Bros. Television.

Season one featured cast regulars Mather Zickel, Alison Becker, Beth Dover, Kumail Nanjiani, Dannah Phirman, and Ray Wise, with a strong roster of guest stars including Conan O'Brien, Dennis Haysbert, Joey McIntyre, Dave Foley, Ed Begley Jr., Dan Rather, Jane Seymour, Lizzy Caplan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Brandon Routh.
