Deadline.com reports that Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Leave has just signed on for the lead role in John Carney's CAN A SONG SAVE YOUR LIFE. Carney is best known for his film 'Once', which received an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The movie was recently turned into a Broadway production which earned eight Tony Awards last Sunday, including one for 'Best Musical.'
Levine will join previously announced cast members Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Hailee Steinfeld in the film whcih will be produced by Anthony Bregman with Exclusive Media. Judd Apatow will serve as executive producer.
Knightley will portray a hopeful musician who moves to New York City with dreams of starting a music career. She moves in with her boyfriend (Levine) who soon dumps her when the opportunity for a solo career arises. Ruffalo will play a struggling record producer who discovers Knightly performing at a local bar.
Levine recently appeared on the second season of NBC's 'The Voice' and will soon make his acting debut in a multi-episode guest starring appearance in Ryan Murphy's 'American Horror Story.'
