"Getting On," is set in a geriatric extended care wing of a down-at-the-heels hospital, following put-upon nurses, anxious doctors and administrators as they struggle with the darkly comic, brutally honest and quietly compassionate realities of caring for the elderly. "I absolutely loved working with this wonderful cast," said McEwan. "I love doing comedy and having the opportunity to work Alex, Niecy and the other cast members is truly a dream come true."
McEwan earned accolades earlier this year for her portrayal of feisty small town newspaper editor Peg Nagy in director Alexander Payne's critically acclaimed film "Nebraska."
"I was pretty headstrong and feisty so it was totally different the way I really am. But we had some good scenes with Will Forte," she recalled.
McEwan began acting in her early twenties, but when she married, she agreed to leave acting to raise a family. But after her husband died a few years ago, she returned to her love of acting and began taking classes and going on auditions for plays, films and TV shows. "It was hard to find an agent and people who believed in you, but I knew I could do it. I've always loved acting and portraying different kinds of characters."
It didn't take long for Angela to gain the attention of producers and casting directors who began to cast her in a number of TV series, commercials and films.
Among her credits are series such as "New Girl," "Parks and Recreation," "Matchmaker," "Untold Stories of the E.R.," "The Hustler," and many others. Besides "Nebraska," her film credits include the upcoming "Boonville Redemption," with Ed Asner and Diane Ladd and "Moments of Clarity," with Eric Roberts and Lyndsy Fonseca of the CW's "Nikita."
