Oscars co-host James Franco has asked funnyman Stephen Colbert for a job on his hit U.S. late night comedy show, according to the LA Times. The "127 Hours" star, who most recently announced plans to become a professor at New York University in 2012, has set his sights on a new gig - working for The Colbert Report.

One of Franco's many interests is performance art, and he said he considers Colbert, who plays the role of the conservative host of the satire news commentary show, a great contemporary artist. During his appearance on April 5th's show, Franco nominated himself for an art consultant position and declared, "You rule. I want to work with you." The funnyman liked the idea and pronounced him hired.

Representatives for Comedy Central, which produces The Colbert Report, didn't immediately explain how serious Franco's potential involvement with "The Colbert Report" might be.
