Actor Eric Bana Set to Play Elvis in Upcoming ELVIS AND NIXON Film

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actor Eric Bana is now set to play the role of Elvis Presley in the upcoming film, ELVIS AND NIXON. The actor will executive produce as well. The film marks the directorial debut of Cary Elwes. Danny Huston is currently in final negotiations to play the role of President Richard Nixon in the upcoming film.

ELVIS AND NIXON will take place on December 21, 1970, the day that superstar Elvis Presley paid a visit to the President Nixon at the White House. Previously, Presley had written a six-page letter to the President, requesting the visit and asking if Nixon if he would consider making hima "Federal Agent-at-Large" in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. During the visit, Presley brought along family photos and a Colt 45 pistol as a personal gift to the president.

Bans, an Australian actor will executive produce the film through his Production Company Pick Up Truck Pictures. This will be the company's first U.S. production. The movie will be shot in Shreveport, La., and Los Angeles.

Screenwriter Elwes' recent credits include "No Strings Attached" and the upcoming "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn".
