Actor Aaron Eckhart to Play Beach Boys' Dennis Wilson in THE DRUMMER

According to Variety, actor Aaron Eckhart has signed on to play Beach Boys' drummer Dennis Wilson in the upcoming indie music biopic THE DRUMMER.

THE DRUMMER will follow the story of the final six years of Wilson's life, prior to his death in 1983. Negotiations have been on going for several months in order to sign Eckhart up for the starring role of Wilson. The actor will also serve as executive producer on the project and will be recording his own versions of the Beach Boy's classic songs.

Shooting will begin in late spring, early summer of 2012. Brad Rosenberger, Randy Miller and Jody Savin will be producing the film.

Eckhart will be starring in the upcoming film THE RUM DIARY with Johnny Depp opening at the end of October.
