After a record 2016 with more than 35 exclusive premieres of first-rate international dramas, comedies, and mysteries, Acorn TV is thrilled to start off the new year with the return of one of its most popular series. MURDOCH MYSTERIES, Season 10 begins its exclusive U.S. Premiere on Monday, January 2, 2017 with the first two episodes, followed by a new episode every Monday through April 24th (18 episodes).

Garnering more than two dozen Gemini(R) nominations and the sole 2016 'Fan's Choice Award' at the Canadian Screen Awards for Yannick Bisson, MURDOCH MYSTERIES has found a huge audience in NORTH AMERICA for its period charm, entertaining mysteries, and likeable characters. Set in Toronto in the late 1890s and early 1900s during the age of invention, the mystery series centers on Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a methodical and dashing detective, who enlists radical new forensic techniques like fingerprinting, ultraviolet light, and trace evidence to solve some of the city's most gruesome murders. Inspired by Maureen Jennings' novels, MURDOCH MYSTERIES airs on the CBC in Canada and in the U.S. after Acorn TV as The Artful Detective on Ovation.

Available at Acorn.TV and on a variety of devices, Acorn TV is the premier streaming service for world class television from Britain and beyond. From RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE), the Acorn brand introduced MURDOCH MYSTERIES to U.S. audiences in 2009 on home video and on Acorn TV since its launch in 2011.

As season 10 begins, Det. Murdoch is proceeding with plans to build a house and create a happy life for himself and his wife, Dr. Julia Ogden. But unbeknownst to the detective, Ogden is suffering silently from guilt for killing her tormentor, the psychotic Eva Pearce. In an effort to distract herself from her anxiety, Ogden is introducing her newly-arrived friend Lady Suzanne Atherly (Samantha Bond, Downton Abbey) and her daughter Elizabeth to Toronto society at a debutante ball. Unfortunately, the elegant event turns deadly when one of the ladies vying to marry Toronto's most eligible bachelor is murdered. The situation worsens when a destructive fire begins to rage throughout downtown Toronto, distracting the police from the case and putting Ogden in grave danger.

As the season continues, Murdoch and Ogden must face the possibility that they sent the wrong man to prison for a murder when new forensic testing challenges their original evidence. The detective and doctor will also revisit a harrowing past case when they meet a murderer convinced he's possessed by the devil. The series co-stars Hél?ne Joy (Durham County), Jonny Harris (Still Standing), Thomas Craig (Coronation Street), and Mouna Traoré (The Book of Negroes).
