AMERICA'S GOT TALENT Delivers Ratings Win for NBC

With NBC's Stanley Cup Final coverage and "America's Got Talent" claiming two of the week's top four adult 18-49 ratings among primetime shows on the Big 4 networks, NBC has tied for #2 for the week of June 15-21 in adults 18-49. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 1.2 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall for the week.

Joining NHL Stanley Cup coverage and "America's Got Talent" in the week's top 15 primetime shows on the Big 4 nets were "American Ninja Warrior," "Dateline NBC" and "I Can Do That."

Monday's sixth and deciding game of the Stanley Cup Final ranked #2 on the Big 4 last week in adults 18-49 and Tuesday's "America's Got Talent" finished #4, while Wednesday's "Ninja" encore, Thursday's "Dateline" and Tuesday's "I Can Do That" all tied for #12. Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.

Among Big 4 non-sports programs, "America's Got Talent" ranked #1 for the week in total viewers, adults 25-54 and teens 12-17 and tied for #1 among non-sports shows in adults 18-34 and kids 2-11.

In addition to tying for #2 for the week among adults 18-49, NBC tied for #2 in adults 25-54 and ranked #2 outright among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in all key adult-female demos.

For the 52-week 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in men 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.3 million vs. 8.9 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of June 15-21 in adults 18-49 are: ABC, 1.7/7; NBC, 1.2/5; Fox, 1.2/5; CBS, 0.7/3; and CW, 0.3/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: ABC, 6.0 million; Fox, 4.9 million; CBS, 4.9 million; NBC, 4.5 million; and CW, 0.9 million.

"Most current" averages for the 52-week 2014-15 season to date are: NBC, 2.3/7; ABC, 2.2/7; CBS, 2.2/7; Fox, 1.9/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 10.6 million; NBC, 8.3 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 5.6 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of June 15-21:

Monday

NBC won the night in adults 18-49, total viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos with NBC Sports coverage of NHL Stanley Cup Final Hockey, featuring the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Chicago Blackhawks (2.8/10 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall from 8:08-11:02 p.m. ET). The 8.0 million viewers makes this the third most watched Game 6 on record (since 1994), behind 2010 (8.3 million) and 2013 (8.2 million). It's also the fourth most watched Stanley Cup Final game on record. Versus NBC's Monday averages from last summer, the night's 8-11 p.m. ratings were up +59% in adults 18-49 (2.7 vs. 1.7) and +45% or 2.4 million persons in total viewers (7.8 million vs. 5.4 million).

Tuesday

"America's Got Talent" (2.3/8 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) equaled the highest 18-49 rating for any Big 4 non-sports telecast of the prior two weeks, since the June 2 edition of "Talent" (2.4). In total viewers, it was the top Big 4 entertainment telecast in the week since the June 9 "Talent" (10.4 million). "America's Got Talent" was the #1 non-NBA telecast of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "America's Got Talent" grew by +25% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 2.30 rating to a 2.87) and by 1.9 million viewers overall (from 10.2 million to 12.1 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: "Talent" has grown by +34% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day" rating (from a 2.53 to a 3.40) and 2.5 million viewers overall (11.0 million to 13.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"I Can Do That" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) scored the highest adult 18-49 rating for any first-year summer series on the Big 4 over the prior week, since the previous "I Can Do That" on June 9. Versus the deciding game of the NBA Finals, "I Can Do That" ranked #2 in the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key demographic versus CBS's "48 Hours" encore. L+3: "I Can Do That" grew by +19% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.26 to 1.51). In total viewers, "I Can Do That" increased by 655,000 persons (from 4.4 million to 5.1 million). L+7: "I Can Do That" is increasing by an average +20% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.63 to a 1.95) and 877,000 viewers overall (5.9 million to 6.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

An encore telecast of "I Can Do That" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) increased week to week by +33% or 0.2 of a point in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.6) and by +15% in total viewers (2.8 million vs. 2.4 million).

A rebroadcast of "American Ninja Warrior" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) won the time period among the Big 4 networks in every key demo. The "Ninja Warrior" encore ranked #2 for the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and adults 25-54, behind only Fox's original "MasterChef." The "Ninja Warrior" rebroadcast grew +30% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.3 vs. 1.0) and +16% in total viewers (3.974 million vs. 3.436 million).

Thursday

"Dateline NBC" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) reported the show's highest Thursday rating since April 2 and equaled its season high in adults 18-49. "Dateline" grew +8% week to week in 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.2) and was up versus two weeks earlier by +18% (1.3 vs. 1.1), In the time period, "Dateline NBC" tied for #1 in adults 18-49 and was #1 outright in total viewers. "Dateline NBC" was the #2 show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, behind only CBS's "Big Bang" encore. L+3: The previous week's "Dateline" increased by +15% going from L+SD to L+3 (1.25 to 1.44), and by 609,000 persons in total viewers (6.5 million to 7.1 million). L+7: Thursday's "Dateline" is growing by an average of +21% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.04 to a 1.26) and 756,000 viewers overall (5.6 million to 6.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: The prior week's Thursday "Dateline NBC" was the most upscale Big 4 show of the night, with an index of 128 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

"Aquarius" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) maintained its rating from half-hour to half-hour in adults 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.7) and grew in adults 18-34 (0.3 to 0.4) and women 18-34 (0.4 to 0.6). "Aquarius" finished within 0.1 of the prior week's 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 and maintained 100% of the previous week's results in adults 18-34 (0.4) and women 18-34 (0.5). L+3: The prior week's "Aquarius" increased by +21% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.81 to 0.98). In total viewers, "Aquarius" grew by 801,000 persons (from 3.7 million to 4.5 million). L+7: "Aquarius" is growing by an average of +42% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.95 to a 1.35) and 1.7 million viewers overall (5.1 million to 6.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Hannibal" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) surged week to week in key adult-male demos, up +67% in men 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.3), up +20% in men 25-54 (0.6 vs. 0.5) and up +300% in men 18-34 (0.4 vs. 0.1). "Hannibal" maintained 100% of the prior week's rating in adults 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5) while growing +14% in actual adult 18-49 viewewrs (663,000 vs. 583,000). "Hannibal" also doubled its rating week to week in adults 18-34 (0.4 vs. 0.2). L+3: The prior week's "Hannibal" increased by +59% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (0.46 to 0.73) and by 667,000 persons in total viewers (1.7 million to 2.3 million). L+7: "Hannibal" is increasing by an average of +49% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.67 to a 1.00) and 987,000 viewers overall (2.6 million to 3.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Friday

From 8-10 p.m., an encore "America's Got Talent" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) tied for #2 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49. From its first hour to its second, the "Talent" encore grew by +33% in 18-49 rating (0.6 to 0.8) and +14% in total viewers (2.9 million to 3.3 million).

"Dateline NBC" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the time period among the Big 4 nets in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and all key adult-female demos. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline NBC" grew by +14% in adults 18-49 (0.7 to 0.8) and +10% in adults 25-54 (1.0 to 1.1). L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.17 to a 1.47) and 946,000 viewers overall (5.9 million to 6.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday

"Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) grew versus its prior telecast on April 11 by +25% or 0.1 of a rating point in adults 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.4). "Caught on Camera" ranked as the #1 non-sports show in the slot on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos.

The NBC Sports telecast of "Premier Boxing Champions," with bouts featuring Adrien "The Problem" Broner vs. "Showtime" Shawn Porter and Errol Spence Jr. vs. Phil "The Italian Sensation" Lo Greco (0.7/3 in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall from 8:30-11 p.m. ET), increased in total viewers every half-hour, peaking at 3.2 million viewers from 10:30-11 p.m. "PBC" grew from its first half-hour to its fifth by +100% in 18-49 (0.5 to 1.0) and +91% or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (1.7 million to 3.2 million). For its final hour from 10-11 p.m., "PBC" ranked #1 among the Big 4 nets in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos.

Sunday

"Dateline NBC" (0.6/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) tied CBS's "60 Minutes" encore in adults 18-49.

"Dateline NBC: My Kid Would Never Do That" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by +17% in adults 18-49 and +25% in adults 25-54 (1.0 vs. 0.8), and grew from half-hour to half-hour in all key measures, including gains of +17% in adults 18-49 (0.6 to 0.7), +22% in adults 25-54 (0.9 to 1.1), +25% in men 25-54 (0.8 to 2.0) and +33% in women 25-54 (0.9 to 1.2).

"A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of its 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 for the prior two weeks. L+7: "A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" has grown by +22% in 18-49 (from a 1.14 rating to a 1.39) and 1.1 million viewers overall (5.7 million to 6.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"American Odyssey" (0.4/2 in 18-49, 2.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) held steady or grew half-hour to half-hour in every key demo, despite the 10 p.m. hour, with gains in women 18-49, adults 18-34 and women 18-34. L+7: "American Odyssey" is increasing by an average +30% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.57 to a 0.74) and more than 1.0 million viewers overall (3.2 million to 4.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
