AMERICAN PSYCHO Musical Announces Plans for Broadway Opening in Spring 2016!

American Psycho is heading to Broadway! According to an Equity casting notice, producers David Johnson, Jesse Singer, Jeffrey Richards, and Jerry Frankel plan to begin Broadway previews in mid-February 2016, with a mid-March 2016 opening. Rehearsals will begin in January. Casting has not yet been announced.

The musical features direction by Rupert Goold, choreography by Lynne Page, a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and music/lyrics by Duncan Sheik.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, 'Girls' star Zosia Mamet and Benjamin Walker recently led a workshop for the new show. The 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson' star took on the role of homicidal investment banker Patrick Bateman, while Mamet played his girlfriend, Evelyn Williams, a role originated by Reese Witherspoon in the 2000 film.

The show had its world premiere at London's Almeida Theatre in December of 2013. Act 4 Productions and producer Ed Pressman plan to bring the Bret Easton Ellis' classic novel to off-Broadway's Second Stage in February 2015. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa penned the book with music by Duncan Sheik. Rupert Goold, who helmed the London premiere, also directed the workshop.

According to press notes on the project, "26-year-old Patrick Bateman is sophisticated, rich and devastatingly handsome. He's got a sculpted body, a model-gorgeous girlfriend, a to-die-for apartment, and a Wall Street job in 1980s New York City. In short, his life's killer. There's just one snag in this dark vision of the American Dream...Patrick can't get the blood out of his $5000 suits."
