AMERICAN IDOL's Pia Toscano to Release Album; Single to Be Released 7/12

In a shocking elimination on last season of AMERICAN IDOL, front-runner Pia Toscano was eliminated from the show. Toscano's fans will get their wish, however: the singer has signed a recording contract with Interscope Records, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her debut single, entitled "This Time," is set for a July 12 release.

Toscano said in a statement that "I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family. [Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I'm looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true."

Among the many American Idol finalists and winners to appear on the Broadway stage are Fantasia, Justin Guarini ,Jordin Sparks,Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young, Tamyra Gray, Constantine Maroulis, Frenchie Davis, Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks.
