The rocker has been in the recording studio since the 13th season of the FOX singing competition wrapped last month, working with A-list songwriters such as Blair Daly (Rascal Flatts' Stand), James Michael (lead singer of Sixx:AM), Sam Hollander (Daughtry's Waiting for Superman), Justin Trancer (lead singer of Semi Precious Weapons) and Dave Bassett (Shinedown's Second Chance), according to USA Today.
"They said that's the first time they've tried doing that in the history of the show," says the 23-year-old of his creative collaboration with the top songwriters. "Usually, they just give (the winners) demo songs. I want this to be an artistic statement on my part." Caleb co-wrote six of the album's 10 tracks. "I really just want to give people me and not take songs somebody else wrote and have me try to sing them," Johnson explains. "It's got a lot of soul, a lot of depth, a lot of conviction."The first single from Testify is set to be released in early to mid-July.
