How would the world react to an alien race arriving on Earth? How would the human race be forever changed by extraterrestrials? What would be the impact of human contact with aliens? With 74-percent of Americans believing in the existence of aliens and 15 million believing they've actually made contact with extraterrestrials, many people have burning questions about life beyond Earth and its impact on humans. Season three of ALIEN ENCOUNTERS, world premiering tonight, May 27 at 10 PM ET/PT on Science Channel, continues to raise hypothetical questions about, and explore the potential impact of alien contact with humans.

Six all-new ALIEN ENCOUNTERS episodes pick up where last season ended with the dramatization of a Texas-sized extraterrestrial mother ship exploding in low Earth orbit. The pieces left behind begin altering humanity as we know it. Some pieces hit land destroying homes, buildings and cars while others are collected to harness alien advanced technology that begins a new, unfathomable industrial revolution. The alien space junk also has an immense impact on our children as 1-in-7 are now born as a human/alien hybrids with special, enhanced senses and powers.

Interspersed with the dramatizations, ALIEN ENCOUNTERS employs world-leading astronomers, futurists and scientists providing expertise and context to the potential cultural, biological and technological impact of extraterrestrial contact. Expert contributors to the series include: Hakeem Oluseyi, astrophysicist and star of Science Channel's OUTRAGEOUS ACTS OF SCIENCE; Seth Shostak, SETI Institute senior astronomer; futurist John Smart; scientist and Science fiction author David Brin; George Church, molecular geneticist, Harvard University; Daniel Lidar, director of the University of Southern California Lockheed Martin Quantum Computation Center; Carlos Barbas, Scripps Research Institute genetic biologist; and more.

"Making contact with life outside of Earth is a source of endless fascination for our viewers," said Rita Mullin, general manager, Science Channel. "The ALIEN ENCOUNTERS series feeds their interest with the perfect blend of intriguing, speculative questions plus perspective from real experts, and information about the latest scientific advancements. With one-a-kind series like ALIEN ENCOUNTERS and our annual Are We Alone? event, viewers continue to turn to Science Channel as the home for alien programming on television."

ALIEN ENCOUNTERS Episode Descriptions (All Times ET/PT):

"The Aura" World Premieres Tuesday, May 27 at 10 PM As space trash from the exploded alien mother ship showers down on Earth, millions of alien/human hybrid babies show strange powers including an extended visual spectrum, lightning fast reaction times and telepathic communication in water. As a decade passes, the hybrid babies are now children reaching puberty, and the military looks to turn them into super soldiers. Genetic sequencing of the kids' genes reveals a code hidden in their junk DNA, and an experiment decrypts the code to reveal a mysterious blueprint.

"The Entanglement" World Premieres Tuesday, June 3 at 10 PM Scientists decipher the mysterious blueprint and it turns out to be alien instructions for a powerful quantum computer that can calculate complex parallel math problems at lightning-fast speeds. The quantum computer significantly enhances senses of the human-alien hybrid children, which appear largely harmless until children worldwide begin to warn that a major earthquake is about to rock Los Angeles.

"The Prophecies" World Premieres Tuesday, June 10 at 10 PM As more human-alien hybrids connect to the quantum computer, they grow more powerful and the computer becomes more self-aware. The combined brainpower is able to crunch unprecedented data and calculate the future - including earthquakes, weather, traffic, health, the movement of space trash, and even the behavior of individuals. As these children become teenagers some use their instant access to unprecedented information for evil purposes.

"The Escalation" World Premieres Tuesday, June 17 at 10 PM Being a human-alien hybrid has its advantages in what has become a new world order, and more humans try to join the hybrid network with high-tech tools. The U.S. and other governments get nervous as the quantum computer becomes more pervasive, and the Pentagon begins running its own imitation computer, called Queen. Fearing the diminishment of its own power, the U.S. launches an attack on the quantum computer in the hopes that Queen can take its place.

"The War" World Premieres Tuesday, June 24 at 10 PM A war erupts between the independent global quantum computer and the human-controlled computer, Queen. It becomes a battle for human-alien hybrids because whichever side has the most on its network will have the most power. When a direct assault on the quantum computer fails, the U.S. military tries to neutralize the hybrid children and their supporters with electromagnetic pulses. Meanwhile the quantum computer retrieves a mysterious box from the cloud of alien space trash still orbiting Earth. Then it inexplicably begins a massive data upload. Believing it is trying to take over the world again, the U.S. military launches a missile intent on destroying the quantum computer.

"The Time Machine" World Premieres Tuesday, July 1 at 10 PM The quantum computer disseminated itself into the cloud as its original central processor in Istanbul was about to be destroyed. As the computer geographically disappeared, it released unprecedented information into the world's computers - strange, complex messages, data, formulas, images and sounds from the alien civilization. All of this new information helps the world's computer improve enough to reconstruct the past with unprecedented accuracy. A "virtual reality trip" to the Great Rift Valley 1.3 million years ago reveals the behavior of Homo ergaster, and reveals a super comet which barely hit Earth. The comet will return again in two years and slam into the Moon with enough force to jar it out of orbit. How will humans survive?
