Austin Film Festival (AFF), also known as "The Writers Festival," is pleased to announce that its original television show, the Lone Star EMMY Winning On Story, will premiere its 5th season tonight, April 18th, 2015. On Story is a weekly public television series broadcast on 129 stations in 65 markets including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and more. On Story is co-produced by AFF Co-Founder and Executive Director Barbara Morgan and Miguel Alvarez and is distributed by KLRU.
On Story is a half-hour series that gives viewers an inside look at the creative process behind some of the most popular and beloved films and television shows. Centered on storytelling through film and television and gleaned from 21 years of archived footage from the annual Festival and Screenwriters Conference, each episode will go behind the scenes highlighting the stories behind the stories.
Featured film visionaries have included Academy Award winners Sydney Pollack (Out of Africa), Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise), and Ron Howard (Apollo 13). Television luminaries have included Emmy Award winners David Milch (NYPD Blue), Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), David Simon (The Wire), and Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad).

The fifth season of On Story will premiere on Austin's KLRU station on Saturday, April 18th. The season will bring you 14 all new episodes featuring interviews and discussions with Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), Noah Farley (Fargo), John Ridley (12 Years a Slave), Jay Duplass (Togetherness), Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day), Tommy Lee Jones (The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada), and much more. Each On Story episode traces a theme through these conversations, highlighting the topic with a specially curated short film previously screened at Austin Film Festival.
