ABC's WORLD NEWS Stands as No. 1 Newscast in Key News Demo

For the week of May 6, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 7.47 million Total Viewers and a 1.6 rating/7 share/1.94 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "World News" was up week to week among both Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 25-54 (+9%) - 7.31 million and 1.78 million on w/o 4/29/13.

"World News" aired the No. 1 telecast on Friday (5/10/13) in the key news demo, outdrawing "NBC Nightly News" by 39,000 Adults 25-54 (1.711 million vs. 1.672 million).

For the 8th straight week, "World News" improved on its Total Viewer performance from the year-ago week (+1%, 7.37 million on w/o 5/7/12). In fact, "World News" has built on its overall audience year to year in 19 of the past 20 weeks.

For the 3rd straight week, "World News" narrowed its Adults 25-54 gap with "NBC Nightly News" from the previous week (-9%, 256,000 vs. 281,000), posting its smallest news demo performance with the NBC newscast in 6 weeks - since w/o 3/25/13.

Season to date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+4%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 2 years - since the 2010-11 season. "World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" among both Total Viewers (-26%) and Adults 25-54 (-9%) to post its smallest margins in Total Viewers (791,000) and Adults 25-54 (329,000) with the NBC program in 4 years - since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "World News" beat "CBS Evening News" by 1.06 million Total Viewers and by 322,000 Adults 25-54, turning in its strongest new demo performance versus the CBS program in 6 weeks - since w/o 3/25/13. In fact, it was "World News'" 2nd-largest Adults 25-54 margin over the "CBS Evening News" this season.
