Taking second place from 8:00-10:00 p.m. to CBS, ABC's "The Taste" grew 8% from its week-ago premiere Fast Affiliate Adult 18-49 rating (1.3/4 vs. 1.2/3) and was up 13% in Adults 18-34. Head-to-head in its time slot, the ABC unscripted series beat out NBC's original 2-hour comedy block for the 2nd week in a row ("Community"/"Parks and Recreation"/"Sean Saves the World"/"Michael J FOX Show" = 3.3 million and 1.2/3). The program built 8% in Adults 18-49 from its first hour to its second hour.
"The Assets" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 2.9 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49):
During the 10 o'clock hour, Part 2 of ABC's "The Assets" paced within 1-tenth of its week-ago premiere Adult 18-49 delivery.
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has increased to 49% currently, from 47% at the same point in 2013.
More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next-day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
