Opposite ESPN's coverage of the down-to-the-wire COLLEGE FOOTBALL Playoff National Championship game (Alabama-Clemson), ABC won the broadcast race on Monday in Adults 18-49 (1.6/5). For the 2nd week in a row, ABC's "The Bachelor" was Monday's No. 1 TV series with Adults 18-49 (tie), Adults 18-34 and across all key Women.
"The Bachelor" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 6.9 million and 1.9/6 in AD18-49) - From 8:00-10:00 p.m., "The Bachelor" finished No. 1 in each half-hour over its broadcast competition in Adults 18-49.
Despite facing the
COLLEGE FOOTBALL Championship game, "The Bachelor" was up from the year-ago night (1/12/15) in both Total Viewers (+6% - 6.9 million vs. 6.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (+6% - 1.9/6 vs. 1.8/5).
"The Bachelor Live" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.9 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):
At 10:00 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelor Live" topped the final hour of NBC's 2-hour "The Biggest Loser" in Total Viewers (3.9 million vs. 3.5 million) and ran in a near tie among Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 1.1/3). "The Bachelor Live" ranked No. 1 in the hour against its broadcast competition in Adults 18-34 and across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).
Projections Rationale:
Lifts vs. L+SD are based on the 2015-16 season for premiere telecast or an average for originals (excluding the premiere).
Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).
New Series: Based on similar series.
A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 48% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
