ABC's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Draws Its Biggest Audience Since Early October

At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "The Middle" held even week to week in Adults 18-49 (1.6/6) to match a best-since-premiere number - since 10/11/16. In addition, the ABC veteran comedy improved its new half-hour year to year by 45% in Adults 18-49 (vs. a 1.1/4 for "The Muppets" on 12/1/15). "The Middle" beat Fox's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" by 60% in the slot with Adults 18-49 (1.0/3).

At 8:30 p.m., ABC's "American Housewife" held even with last week's Fast Affiliate Adult 18-49 rating (1.4/5), which adjusted up 1-tenth in the National ratings. Like its lead-in, the new ABC comedy grew its time slot for the Net from the year-ago night in Adults 18-49 (+8% vs. a 1.3/4 for "Fresh Off the Boat" on 12/1/15). "American Housewife" dominated Fox's "New Girl" by 75% in the half-hour in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3).

At 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Fresh Off the Boat" returned steady with its last telecast 2 weeks ago in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.3/4).

Like its lead-in at 9:30 p.m., ABC's "The Real O'Neals" also came back steady with its most recent telecast 2 weeks ago in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 1.1/4), equaling its 2nd-highest number since its season premiere - since 10/11/16.

At 10:00 p.m., ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returned up from its last telecast 1 month ago (on 11/1/16) in L+SD Total Viewers (+4% - 2.5 million vs. 2.4 million) and held exactly even with Adults 18-49 (0.8/3), drawing its biggest overall audience since early October - since 10/11/16. In its new hour-later Tuesday 10pm slot this season, "S.H.I.E.L.D." is consistently delivering the series' biggest-ever playback lifts, spiking by 111% on average from Live + Same Day to Live + 7 Day Adults 18-49.
