ABC Sunday Prime (7:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.2 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49): Up against big NFL-driven competition from SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on NBC (Patriots-Broncos) and CBS with a monster NFL-overrun (Steelers-Seahawks), ABC returned from the prior week's AMA's preemption with Sunday's Top 2 entertainment broadcasts in Adults 18-49, including "Once Upon a Time" (1.3/4) and "Quantico" (1.2/4-tie). Please Note: ABC started off the night with a repeat "AFHV."
"Once Upon a Time" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 4.3 million and 1.3/4 in AD18-49):
Building 30% on its repeat "AFHV" Adult 18-49 lead-in at 8:00 p.m. against SNF and CBS' NFL-inflated programming, ABC's "Once Upon a Time" paced well ahead of its
FOX competition in the slot (+30% - 1.3/4 vs. 1.0/3). The
ABC drama held even with its 2-hour telecast 2 weeks ago in Teens 12-17.
"Blood & Oil" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 3.2 million and 0.9/2 in AD18-49):
At 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Blood & Oil" was up from its most recent airing 3 weeks ago in Adults 18-49 (0.9/2 vs. 0.8/2).
"Quantico" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.1 million and 1.2/4 in AD18-49): During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "Quantico" defeated its
CBS drama competition by 33% in the time slot with Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 0.9/3 for "The Good Wife"). The new
ABC freshman series held steady with its most recent telecast 2 weeks ago in Total Viewers (4.1 million vs. 4.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.3/4).
Live + 3 Day: "Quantico" more than doubled its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating on each of its last 3 telecasts with just 3 days of TV playback. The new
ABC drama holds the season's biggest L+3 percentage lifts on the major networks among young adults.
A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 48% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
Projections Rationale:
Lifts vs. L+SD are based on 2015-16 season averages for originals (excluding the premiere).
Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).
New Series: Based on similar series.
