ABC's 'Modern Family' Sets DVR Record

During the first complete week of 2011, ABC's claimed 4 of TV's Top 10 biggest actual DVR Adult 18-49 gainers from the first-reported numbers to the playback finals, as "Modern Family" topped the chart with record-setting 1.7 rating point jump over its initial number (+35% - 4.8 rating to a 6.5 rating): "Modern Family" - #1 (+1.7 rating), "Grey's Anatomy" - #2 (+1.3 rating), "Private Practice" - #4 (+1.0 rating) and "Desperate Housewives" - #7 (+0.9 rating). In fact Modern Family's 1.7 rating point build for the week was the highest for any TV series this season.

· Also among Adults 18-49, ABC delivered 6 of the Top 10 series with the highest percentage increases, with each show picking up more than 30% from the first-reported overnight numbers: "Private Practice" (+37%), "Modern Family" (+35%), "V" (+33%), "Detroit 1-8-7" (+33%), "Brothers and Sisters" (+32%) and "Grey's Anatomy" (+31%).

· In Total Viewers, ABC saw 4 series add on 2 million viewers or more from their initially reported totals via DVR playback, including "Modern Family" (+3.4 million), "Grey's Anatomy" (+2.8 million), "Castle" (+2.5 million) and "Private Practice" (+2.0 million).

Season-to-Date DVR Playback

This season ABC airs TV's Top 2 biggest actual Adult 18-49 gainers, with "Grey's Anatomy" and "Modern Family" tied as the leaders. On average, both ABC series pick up an identical 1.4 rating points, from the originally-reported numbers to the finalized DVR playback numbers.

· ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Modern Family are also tied at #1 overall for the season, as TV's highest-rated scripted series in the key young adult sales demo.
