ABC has renewed LAST MAN STANDING for a fifth season. The news was shared by series star Tim Allen on Twitter as he replied to a fan's query about a fifth season, "@lauhog season 5 is a go."

About the show:

Tim Allen stars as "Mike Baxter" in "Last Man Standing," a show about everything that families are dealing with today - all filtered through the blunt "man's man" comedy of an iconic American dad. Mike continues to be surrounded by forces seeking to challenge his ideas on just about everything in which he strongly believes.

Mike and his wife, Vanessa, a geologist considering a career change, live with their three daughters in Denver, Colorado. They find themselves tussling with the ongoing parenting dilemma: How much can they continue to influence their kids as they grow up and move on?

Since his seven-year-old grandson, Boyd, moved out of the Baxter home with his mom, oldest daughter Kristin, Mike especially feels the pain of separation. Mike considers Boyd as the other "last man standing" in his life and persists in trying to save the boy from the liberal guidance of his young parents.

Kristin now lives in an apartment in downtown Denver with her son and her baby-daddy, Ryan. It can be a bit of a struggle financially but she and Ryan are determined to raise Boyd their own way, outside of Mike's well-meaning influence.

As they plan for an upcoming wedding, Kristin and Ryan continue negotiating the terms of their own relationship - one that started off rocky with a high school pregnancy and Ryan skipping town. Ryan has since become a caring spouse and father, but Mike still often sees him as an irresponsible goofball.

Back home, it's an exciting time of broadening horizons for 20-year-old Mandy Baxter, a sophomore at UC Denver and talented designer with her own clothing business. This new status as an entrepreneur adds to Mandy's vanity and cheerful self-confidence. Mandy's sweet relationship with Kyle, who works for her father, continues to blossom.

Like her older sisters, 16-year-old Eve Baxter is also spreading her wings a bit. She, too, is dating - much to Mike's discomfort. Eve is still a tomboy at heart and active in Junior ROTC. She carries her cocky gung-ho attitude into every project she takes on, which makes papa Mike very proud.
Chuck Larabee, Mike's frenemy neighbor, continues to take friendly pokes at Mike. Of course, Mike pokes Chuck right back, giving as well as he gets.

Mike tries to escape all the female drama at home in the warm, manly embrace of his job at the Outdoor Man store, a sporting goods emporium where he is marketing director. Mike's long-time boss and friend, Ed Alzate, continues to provide a slightly warped sounding-board as Mike considers the various thorny issues confronting him at home.

Mike still revels in his Outdoor Man video-blog, which he delightedly uses as a pulpit for his opinions and a voice to appeal to those who agree that manliness is under assault. When he's supposed to be selling mountain bikes or kayaks, for some reason he always ends up spouting off about the environment, Obamacare, international politics or any other topic occupying his mind.
