ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (5.798 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.305 million) for the week of March 17, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" beat NBC's "Today" (5.122 million and 2.144 million, respectively) during the week by 676,000 Total Viewers and by 161,000 Adults 25-54. "GMA" significantly increased its margins year to year over No. 2 ranked "Today" in both measures (+355,000 and +18,000, respectively on w/o 3/18/13). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached almost 21 million users last month.
"GMA" has ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in 86 of the last 90 weeks (since w/o 6/25/12), finishing behind "Today" only during the 2 weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2 weeks of the 2014 Winter Olympics. In Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in 22 of the 26 weeks of the season, pacing ahead of the No. 1 finishes at the same point of the 2012-13 Season (20 of 25 weeks*).
"GMA" posted week-to-week increases (5.634 million, 2.248 million and 1.542 million, respectively, on w/o 3/10/14) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+3%), Adults 25-54 (+3%) and Adults 18-49 (+4%).
"GMA" continues to build on its year-ago performance by double-digits (5.078 million, 1.918 million and 1.411 million, respectively, on w/o 3/18/13) in Total Viewers (+14%), Adults 25-54 (+20%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%). In fact, the
ABC morning newscast has built on the year-earlier week in 10 of the last 12 weeks. In addition, "GMA" is up the most year to year in overall viewers and in the key adults news demo compared to "CBS This Morning" (+10%/-5%) and "Today" (+8%/+13%).
Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 629,000 Total Viewers and 97,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 6% (629,000 vs. 596,000) and in Adults 25-54 by 24% (97,000 vs. 78,000). Further, "GMA" is posting its largest Total Viewer season margin in more than 22 years and biggest in Adults 25-54 in 22 years - since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991) and the 1991-92 season, respectively.
Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%). In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively.
During the week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+89%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+129%) and Adults 18-49 (+113%).
