From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" increased its overall audience 8% (3.9 million vs. 3.6 million) week to week to earn its most-watched telecast in 6 weeks (since 6/25/13), while matching a season-high in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4), to equal the series' top rating since last July (since 7/15/12).
Building by 30% from its first half-hour to its final half-hour in Adults 18-49 (1.0/4 to 1.3/4) opposite NBC's "America's Got Talent" (9:00-10:00 p.m.), ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" beat out the final half-hour of Fox's 2-hour "So You Think You Can Dance" by 8% (1.3/4 vs. 1.2/3) for 2nd place at 9:30 p.m.
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 44% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
