ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 10.4 million and 1.5/5 in AD18-49): From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" remained steady week to week in Adults 18-49 (1.5/5 vs. 1.6/5). Head to head in the 2-hour slot, "Dancing" (10.4 million and 1.5/5) scored its closest finish this season with NBC's "The Voice" (11.1 million and 2.6/9) in Total Viewers (-700,000) and Adults 18-49 (-1.1 rating points).
"Conviction" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.5 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49): At 10:00 p.m.,
ABC freshman "Conviction" gained 7% in Total Viewers week to week (4.5 million vs. 4.2 million) and held even in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3).
A Top 10 Gainer in L+3 TV Playback: On average this season, "Conviction" ranks among the Top 10 (No. 8) biggest percentage gainers on broadcast TV and No. 2 among freshman series (behind only "Designated Survivor") with a +56% jump in Adults 18-49 after just 3 days of playback (0.9 rating to 1.4 rating). The new show also pulls in an additional 2.1 million viewers, bringing its Live +3 Day average audience to 7.3 million viewers.
Projections Rationale: Lifts vs. L+SD are based on the 2015-16 season for premiere telecast or an average for originals (excluding the premiere).
Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).
New Series: Based on similar series.
A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 49% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
