Deadline.com reports that ABC's struggling comedy COUGAR TOWN may move to the TBS network if it is canceled at the end of the current season. According to the report, TBS is currently in "preliminary talks" with the show's Production Company, ABC Studios, about the possibility of acquiring the Coutney Cox-led series if ABC decides to give it the hook. The show has suffered from mediocre ratings all year.
ABC had originally pulled the show from its midseason schedule in November and cut its third season order from 22 to 15 episodes. This February, the show returned to disappointing ratings, despite creator Bill Lawrence's efforts to promote the show through various forms of social media.
This would not be the first time that a cable network picked up a network show in the middle of its run. NBC's crime drama "Southland" was picked up by TNT, another Turner Networks channel, where it has recently been renewed for a fifth season.
