ABC's annual telecast of CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS surged over its year-ago telecast by 19% in Total Viewers (8.2 million vs. 6.9 million) and by 20% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.0/3) to earn three-year highs on both measures, marking its best since Dec. 1, 2014, while simultaneously increasing 53% year-over-year in Facebook and Twitter interactions.
CMA's two-hour holiday lead-in held strong through ABC's final primetime hour ("The Good Doctor"), making ABC the most watched network of the night.
CMA closes out 2017 with all three of its annual ABC television properties reaching three-year ratings highs ("CMA Fest," "The 51st Annual CMA Awards" and "CMA Country Christmas").
"CMA Country Christmas" will re-air Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8/7c on the ABC Television Network. The eighth annual holiday music celebration is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer, Paul Miller is the Director, and Jon Macks is the writer.
About the Country Music Association: Founded in 1958, the Country Music Association is the first trade organization formed to promote a type of music. In 1961, CMA created the Country Music Hall of Fame to recognize artists and industry professionals with Country Music's highest honor. More than 7,800 music industry professionals and companies from around the globe are members of CMA. The organization's objectives are to serve as an educational and professional resource for the industry and advance the growth of Country Music around the world. This is accomplished through CMA's core initiatives: the CMA Awards, which annually recognize outstanding achievement in the industry; CMA Music Festival, which benefits music education and is taped for a three-hour network television special, "CMA Fest"; and "CMA Country Christmas," featuring Country artists performing original music and Christmas classics for broadcast during the holiday season. All of CMA's television properties will air on the ABC Television network through 2021.
