ABC'S WORLD NEWS WITH DIANE SAWYER Increases Its Total Viewing Audience

For the week of November 26, 2012, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 8.39 million Total Viewers and a 1.8 rating/7 share/2.18 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. The ABC program posted week-to-week growth in both Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%) – 8.26 million and 2.04 million, respectively, on w/o 11/19/12. In addition, "World News" stood as the only network newscast to improved over its week-ago performance in both measures, as "NBC Nightly News" was down (-7%/-2%), while "CBS Evening News" was mixed (-2%/+2%).
For the 5th time in the last 6 weeks, "World News" improved on its year-ago delivery in Total Viewers (+3% - 8.15 million on w/o 11/28/12).
"World News" slashed its week-to-week margins with "NBC Nightly News" in both Total Viewers ?(-46% - 1.02 million vs. 1.90 million) and Adults 25-54 (-32% - 422,000 vs. 617,000).
For the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks, "World News" narrowed its year-to-year Total Viewer gap with "NBC Nightly News" (-36% - 1.02 million vs. 1.60 million).
Season to date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+1% - 7.76 million vs. 7.68 million) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 3 years – since the 2009-10 season. In addition, "World News" has narrowed its Total Viewer gap (-20%) with "NBC Nightly News" by double digits for the second year in a row to post its smallest gap (691,000) with the NBC program in 4 years– since the 2008-09 season.
"World News" outperformed "CBS Evening News" by 1.49 million Total Viewers and 229,000 Adults 25-54.
