This Week with George Stephanopoulos" won the opening telecast of the 2014-15 season in both Total Viewers (3.391 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.003 million) for September 28, 2014, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "This Week" marked the first time in 12 years in Total Viewers and in 6 years in Adults 25-54 to rank No. 1 during the opening week of the season - since the 2002-03 and the 2008-09 seasons, respectively. Further, "This Week" has ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 in 15 of the last 18 weeks
For the 3rd week in a row, "This Week" improved on its Total Viewer performance week to week (+13% - 3.391 million vs. 3.010 million on 9/21/14) to score its most-watched telecast in 6 months - since 3/23/14.
"This Week" improved from its year-ago season premiere (2.731 million and 785,000, respectively, on 9/29/13) for the 3rd straight year in both Total Viewers (+28%) and Adults 25-54 (+24%). In fact, "This Week" turned in its strongest season premiere performance in 6 years - since the 2008-09 season.
"This Week" beat CBS' "Face the Nation" (3.326 million and 933,000, respectively) for the first time during the opening Sunday of the season in 7 years in Total Viewers (+65,000) and by its largest news demo margin (+70,000) during premiere week also in 7 years - since the 2007-08 season.
NOTE: NBC's "Meet the Press" was pre-empted due to Ryder Cup golf.
