ABC WORLD NEWS Up Week-to-Week in Viewers, Key Demos

For the week of November 4, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 8.060 million Total Viewers and a 1.7 rating/6 share/2.057 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. Growing week to week (7.828 million and 2.007 million, respectively, on 10/28/13) in both Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) to hit season highs, "World News" turned in its strongest performance in nearly 7 months - since w/o 4/15/13.

"World News" delivered its most-watched telecast of the season on Monday (8.917 million on 11/4/13).

For the 4th, "World News" cut its year-to-year gap with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 (-29% - 268,000 vs. 380,000). In fact, "World News" has narrowed its news demo margin with "Nightly News" by double-digits Versus the year-ago week in the last 4 weeks and in 5 of 7 weeks this season.

Season to date, "World News" is up Versus the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 25-54 (+3%), delivering its best overall viewer start to a season in 4 years - since the 2009-10 season. "World News" is the only evening newscast to grow from the same point last season in the key adult news demo compared to "CBS Evening News" (-10%) and "NBC Nightly News" (-1%).

In addition, "World News" has narrowed its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 by double-digits (-24%) compared to its season margin at the same point last year. In fact, decreasing its Adults 25-54 margin for the 4th season in a row, "World News" is posting its smallest news demo margin (233,000) with the NBC program in 5 years- since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 695,000 Total Viewers and by 262,000 Adults 25-54.
