ABC WORLD NEWS Grows Overall by 8% Year-to-Year

For the 3rd straight week, "World News" saw gains on the year-ago week (6.839 million and 1.754 million, respectively, on w/o 4/2/12) among both Total Viewers (+8%) and Adults 25-54 (+8%). In fact, "World News" has delivered year-to-year increases in both measures in 9 of the last 10 weeks.

Also for the 3rd week running, "World News" narrowed its Total Viewer gap with "NBC Nightly News" versus the year-ago week by double digits (-11% - 974,000 vs. 1.09 million). Further, "World News" has cut the Total Viewer margin on the same week last year in 13 of the last 14 weeks.

Season to date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+3%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 2 years - since the 2010-11 season. "World News" narrowed its margins by double digits among both Total Viewers (-28%) and Adults 25-54 (-14%) with "NBC Nightly News" to post its smallest Total Viewer gap (786,000) with the NBC program in 5 years and narrowest demo margin (320,000) in 4 years - since the 2007-08 and the 2008-09 seasons, respectively.

For the week, "ABC World News" outperformed the "CBS Evening News" by 987,000 Total Viewers and by 180,000 Adults 25-54.
