ABC Ties Strongest Week Since November in Adults 18-49

During the week of January 25, 2016, ABC held even in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4) to tie its best week since November - since w/o 11/30/15.

Monday

ABC ran a strong second on Monday in Adults 18-49 (1.9/6) to Fox's Monday premieres ("The X-Files"/"Lucifer"), beating original lineups on CBS (+12% - 1.7/5) and NBC (+58% - 1.2/4). The Net ranked No. 1 on the night in Adults 18-34 (1.8/7-tie) and Women 18-34 (2.6/9).

  • The Net was up 12% week to week to deliver a new season best on Monday in Adults 18-49.

"The Bachelor" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 7.7 million and 2.3/7 in AD18-49):

ABC's "The Bachelor" was Monday's No. 1 TV series for the 4th week in a row in Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49).

  • "The Bachelor" built for the 2nd-straight week with Total Viewers (+1% - 7.7 million vs. 7.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+5% - 2.3/7 vs. 2.2/6), setting new season highs on both counts.

"The Bachelor Live" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 3.9 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):

At 10:00 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelor Live" outdrew the final hour of NBC's 2-hour "The Biggest Loser" in Total Viewers (3.9 million vs. 3.6 million) and grew week to week in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3). "The Bachelor Live" won its hour with Women 18-34 (1.2/5), ranking No. 1 against its broadcast competition for the 4th week in a row.

Tuesday

"Marvel's Agent Carter" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 2.9 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

At 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Marvel's Agent Carter" held even with its week earlier season opener in Live + Same Day Adults 18-49 (0.9/3), which jumped 44% in Live + 3 Day to register the series' 3rd-largest-ever lift (0.9 rating to 1.3 rating).

Wednesday

Please Note: ABC aired repeat comedies on Wednesday from 8:00-10:00 p.m.

"American Crime" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.6 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

Despite a notably lower repeat lead-in week to week at 10:00 p.m. ("black-ish" declined 5-tenths from last week's original), "American Crime" held steady with the prior week in Live + Same Day Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 1.0/3).

  • Live + 3 Day: On average this season, "American Crime" jumps +55% over its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating after 3 days of TV playback (1.1 rating to a 1.7 rating).
  • Live + 7 Day: Based on the first round of L+7 for the show's second season (released this past Monday), the "American Crime" premiere spiked +67% over its L+SD rating after 7 days of TV playback (1.2 rating to a 2.0 rating), marking the series' largest-ever playback increase. The ABC drama's overall audience expanded by 2.9 million viewers on average in L7 (+62% - 4.7 million to 7.6 million).

Thursday

"Beyond the Tank" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 4.3 million and 1.0/3 in AD18-49):

In the 8:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "Beyond the Tank" topped NBC's "Heroes Reborn" (series finale) for the 3rd week in a row among Total Viewers (+13% - 4.3 million vs. 3.8 million) and tied the NBC drama closer among Adults 18-49 (1.0/3). "Beyond the Tank" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+5%) and even in Adults 18-49, matching its largest audience of 2016.

"My Diet Is Better Than Yours" (9:00-11:00 p.m. - 2.2 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49):

From 9:00-11:00 p.m. opposite all-original competition on the other nets, including the second hour of Fox's "American Idol" (9:00-10:00 p.m.), CBS' "Angel from Hell" (9:30-10:00 p.m.) and NBC's "Shades of Blue" (10:00-11:00 p.m.), ABC's "My Diet Is Better Than Yours" grew week to week by 5% in Total Viewers (2.2 million vs. 2.1 million).

Friday

With its lineup returning to all originals on the night, ABC won Friday in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5).

  • "Shark Tank" was Friday's No. 1 TV show (1.7/6 - tying a season best), while "Last Man Standing" (1.2/5) and "Dr. Ken" (1.1/4) ranked as the Top 2 scripted shows of the night in Adults 18-49, respectively.

"Last Man Standing" (8:00-8:31 p.m. - 6.9 million and 1.2/5 in AD18-49):

At 8:00 p.m., "Last Man Standing" was the most watched TV show in its half-hour (6.9 million). "LMS" paced within 1-tenth of its last original airing two weeks ago (1.2/5 vs. 1.3/5), which was a season high in Adults 18-49.

"Dr. Ken" (8:31-9:00 p.m. - 5.1 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):

At 8:30 p.m., ABC's "Dr. Ken" returned up from its most recent original by 10% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 vs. 1.0/4).

"Shark Tank" (9:00-10:01 p.m. - 6.8 million and 1.7/6 in AD18-49):

Building on its lead-in at 9:00 p.m. (+55%), ABC's "Shark Tank" won its hour by 70% over CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.0/4). The ABC unscripted show was also the most-watched program overall in the hour (6.8 million).

  • Growing for its 2nd-straight original telecast, "Shark Tank" surged 21% from two weeks ago in Adults 18-49 to match a season high. The show also gained 1.2 million viewers over its last original (6.8 million vs. 5.6 million), drawing its biggest audience since November (since 11/20/15) and its 3rd-largest this season.

"20/20" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 5.4 million and 1.0/4 in AD18-49):

At 10:00 p.m., ABC's "20/20" grew by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+42% - 5.4 million vs. 3.8 million), Adults 18-49 (+25% - 1.0/4 vs. 0.8/3) and Adults 25-54 (+25% - 1.5/5 vs. 1.2/3), marking its most watched telecast overall since November - since 11/20/15. Friday's most-watched newsmagazine, ABC's "20/20" outdrew NBC's "Dateline" in the hour by 10% in Total Viewers (5.4 million vs. 4.9 million).

Saturday

With NBA coverage (San Antonio-Cleveland), ABC ranked No. 1 on Saturday for the 2nd week in a row in Adults 18-49 (1.0/4-tie), Men 18-34 (1.3/6) and Men 18-49 (1.3/5).

"NBA Saturday Night on ABC" (8:33 - 11:01 p.m. EST - 3.3 million and 1.2/4 in AD18-49): Featuring the Spurs versus the Cavaliers, "NBA Saturday Night on ABC" was the night's No. 1 TV program for the 2nd consecutive week among Adults 18-49 (1.2/4), Men 18-34 (1.4/7) and Men 18-49 (1.5/6).

Sunday

"Galavant" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 2.2 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49):

Despite facing the middle hour of Fox's 3-hour "Grease: Live" from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's season finale of "Galavant" grew week to week by 5% in Total Viewers (2.2 million vs. 2.1 million) and by 20% in Adults 18-49 (0.6/2 vs. 0.5/1), tying its highest rating since its season opener - since 1/3/16. In addition, the show spiked 67% in Adults 18-34 to a best-since-premiere rating.
