ABC Studios Picks Up Nine New Series for 2018 - 2019 Season Slate  Image

ABC Studios and ABC Signature Studios had another successful selling season with nine new series going into production between the two studios.

"ABC Studios and ABC Signature Studios have each made major strides this year in developing and producing exciting new series," said Patrick Moran, president of ABC Studios. "As we continue to expand our brand across broadcast, cable and streaming services, we have more opportunities for the innovative, compelling storytelling we are known for."

ABC picked up new dramas series "A Million Little Things," "Grand Hotel," "The Fix" and the comedy, "The Kids Are Alright," all from ABC Studios.

They join "The Rookie," a co-production with Entertainment One (eOne), and "Take Two," a co-production with Tandem Productions premiering on Thursday, June 21, at 10:00 p.m. on ABC.

ABC also picked up "Single Parents," which is a co-production with 20th Century FOX Television, and "Schooled," a co-production with Sony Television.

Freeform picked up the half-hour multicamera comedy, "Besties," from ABC Signature Studios, written by Kenya Barris and Ranada Shepard.

They join returning ABC Studios shows "American Housewife," "black-ish," "Grey's Anatomy," "How to Get Away with Murder," "For The People" and "Station 19," all on ABC; and ABC Studios drama "Criminal Minds" on CBS. Season three of ABC Studios drama "Code Black" recently premiered on CBS.

In addition, returning series include "The Good Doctor" (co-production with Sony Television), "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (co-production with Marvel Television) and "Speechless" (co-production with 20th Century Fox).

ABC Signature Studios recently received a straight-to-series order from EPIX for "Godfather of Harlem," created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein, with Forest Whitaker set to star and produce. Signature and Hello Sunshine received a straight-to-series order from Hulu for the event limited series, "Little Fires Everywhere," with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington attached to star and produce. Signature's new series include "Marvel's Cloak & Dagger," a co-production with Marvel Television premiering on FreeForm this June, as well as Amblin TV and ABC Signature's "All About the Washingtons," which is currently in post-production for Netflix. These projects join returning series "SMILF" for Showtime; "grown-ish" for Freeform; and "Marvel's Runaways" for Hulu, a co-production with Marvel Television.

ABC Studios International in partnership with Hoodlum Entertainment, the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) and Screen Queensland is producing season two of the drama series "Harrow," starring Ioan Gruffudd. ABC Studios International is developing a series for French broadcaster M6 which is executive produced by and stars Poppy Montgomery, and is written and executive produced by Ken Sanzel.
