According to Deadline, ABC's Once Upon a Time is in the process of recasting the role of 'The Mad Hatter,' currently played by Sebastian Stan, in hopes of launching a spin-off centered around the infamous ALICE IN WONDERLAND character.

The network is currently in the Early Stages of 'quietly' finding an actor who is willing to make a potential multi-year commitment, should the spin-off come to fruition. According to the site, Stan seems unwilling to sign on for it.

The Hatter is poised to make a return this coming season, and actor recast would have the option, should things go over well, to sign as a series regular, and ultimately, lead their own show. No word yet on who the network has in mind, or when the new Hatter arc is set to begin.
