Variety reports that ABC has greenlit the comedy series UNCLE BUCK, starring comedian Mike Epps. The show joins three other previously announced comedies for the network including "The Muppets", "Dr. Ken," and "The Real O'Neals."
Based on the 1989 John Hughes movie of the same name led by late comic John Candy, ABC's "modern-day re-telling" will feature a diverse cast.
The title character (played by Epps) is described as "a fun-loving, but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay. By happy coincidence, his nieces and nephew's nanny has just quit so his brother and sister-in-law need his help, and his unconventional personality just may make him the right fit for the family - plus, they may be the answer to his problems, too."
Nia Long, James Lesure, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi and Aalyrah Caldwell will also star. The project is from writers Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley who will also executive produce alongside Will Packer.
