On February 23, 2014, ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (3.146 million) and Adults 25-54 (963,000) for the 2nd time in the last 4 weeks, according to Nielsen Media Research. "This Week" outperformed NBC's "Meet the Press" by 754,000 Total Viewers and by 156,000 Adults 25-54, posting its largest Total Viewer advantage over "Meet the Press" in more than 16 years - since 8/31/97, based on regular telecasts. In addition, "This Week" led CBS' "Face the Nation" by 201,000 Total Viewers and by 119,000 Adults 25-54.
"This Week" improved week-to-week (2.738 million and 759,000, respectively on 2/16/14) by double-digits in both Total Viewers (+15%) and Adults 25-54 (+27%). The
ABC public affairs program improved the most from the previous week compared to CBS' "Face the Nation" (-6%/-12%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-23%/-29%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+14%/+26%).
"This Week" grew year-to-year (2.799 million and 825,000, respectively on 2/3/13) also by double-digits in both Total Viewers (+23%) and Adults 25-54 (+14%). "This Week" was also up the most in Adults 25-54 from its year-ago telecast compared to CBS' "Face the Nation" (+5%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (+8%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+13%).
"This Week" surged from its performance on the third Sunday of the Winter Olympics four years ago in both Total Viewers (+31%) and Adults 25-54 (+33%) - 2.409 million and 723,000, respectively on 2/28/10). "This Week" saw the largest gains from four years ago compared to CBS' "Face the Nation" (-1%/-16%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-35%/-19%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+1%/+2%).
Season to date, "This Week" is up in Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%) versus its year-ago season averages. Growing in both measures for the 2nd year in a row, "This Week" is delivering its most-watched season in 5 years and best news demo performance in 4 years - since the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, respectively. In addition, "This Week" is up the most from the same point last season in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 versus CBS' "Face the Nation" (+1%/+1%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-5%/-9%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (flat/-12%).
