ABC News' 'Nightline' Beats CBS' 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' in All Key Demos for Week of August 7

ABC News' "Nightline" averaged 1.271 million Total Viewers, 455,000 Adults 25-54 and 339,000 Adults 18-49 during the week of August 7, 2017, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" led CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" (1.103 million, 398,000 and 284,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+168,000), Adults 25-54 (+57,000) and Adults 18-49 (+55,000), scoring its largest Total Viewer advantage in 2 months - since w/o 6/5/17.

"Nightline" improved on the previous week (1.110 million, 418,000 and 290,000, respectively, for w/o 7/31/17) in Total Viewers (+15%), Adults 25-54 (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+17%), drawing its largest overall audience in 7 weeks, while hitting 4-week highs in both key adult demos - since weeks of 6/19/17 and 7/10/17, respectively.

"Nightline" saw increases on the same week last year (1.072 million, 427,000 and 321,000, respectively, for w/o 8/8/16) in Total Viewers (+19%), Adults 25-54 (+7%)and Adults 18-49 (+6%).

"Nightline" narrowed its week-to-week margin with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in Total Viewers (-40% - 75,000 vs. 126,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+96,000 - 1.413 million vs. 1.317 million), Adults 25-54 (+41,000 - 532,000 vs. 491,000) and Adults 18-49 (+24,000 - 401,000 vs. 377,000).

Stories reported on "Nightline" last week included President Trump's response to North Korea's nuclear threats, co-anchor Dan Harris' sit-down with Russian dopingdocumentary filmmaker Bryan Fogel, a look at Taylor Swift's blunt testimony describing details of an alleged groping attempt by a former radio DJ, an interview with Jackie Evancho about how her and her sister's lives have changed since Jackie's controversial performance at the inauguration and a behind-the-scenes tour of "Marvel Universe Live."
