ABC News' 'Nightline' Beats CBS' 'The Late Late Show With James Corden' in Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49

For the 2nd week in a row, "Nightline" improved on the year-ago week (472,000 and 346,000, respectively, for w/o 9/12/17) in Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%).

"Nightline" narrowed its week-to-week margins with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" by double digits in Total Viewers (-67% - 30,000 vs. 90,000), Adults 25-54 (-63% - 50,000 vs. 134,000) and Adults 18-49 (-51% - 71,000 vs. 145,000) to its closest key adult performances with the NBC program in 2 months - since w/o 7/10/17.
"Nightline" slashed its year-to-year gaps with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" by more than half in Adults 25-54 (-64% - 50,000 vs. 140,000) and Adults 18-49 (-56% - 71,000 vs. 160,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+91,000 - 1.401 million vs. 1.310 million), Adults 25-54 (+41,000 - 528,000 vs. 487,000) and Adults 18-49 (+25,000 - 398,000 vs. 373,000).

Stories on "Nightline" last week included co-anchor Byron Pitts' exclusive interview with Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett about his encounter with police in Las Vegas, co-anchor Juju Chang's interview with Angelina Jolie on her new film and the importance of family, a report on new details that emerged in the alleged murder of a pregnant Maryland teacher by her boyfriend and an adventurous look at a world champion rock climber's history-making free climb of Madagascar's Mora Mora.

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Dan Harris, Juju Chang and Byron Pitts. Steven Baker is senior broadcast producer. The program airs weeknights from 12:35-1:05 a.m. EDT, on The ABC Television Network. Together with "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Nightline" is part of ABC's winning late-night strategy of airing news and entertainment programming.
