ABC News' NIGHTLINE Improves Week to Week in All Key Measures for the Week of 5/21  Image

ABC News' "Nightline" averaged 1.225 million Total Viewers, 407,000 Adults 25-54 and 309,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of May 21, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" defeated CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" (1.158 million and 275,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+67,000) and Adults 18-49 (+34,000).

"Nightline" improved on the previous week (1.171 million, 393,000 and 407,000, respectively, for w/o 3/26/18) in Total Viewers (+5%), Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%).

"Nightline" narrowed its week-to-week margins with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in Total Viewers (-8% - 102,000 vs. 111,000), Adults 25-54 (-8% - 99,000 vs. 108,000) and Adults 18-49 (-9% - 68,000 vs. 75,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" is beating CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" across the board: Total Viewers (+9,000 - 1.393 million vs. 1.384 million), Adults 25-54 (+31,000 - 508,000 vs. 477,000) and Adults 18-49 (+29,000 - 383,000 vs. 354,000).

Stories on "Nightline" last week included a look at the released video of police tasing Milwaukee Bucks rookie Sterling Brown; interviews with survivors of the Texas school shooting; a report on the reactions to the NFL's new anthem policy for players and personnel on the field; a profile on 9 year-old social media star Lil Tay; and interviews with cast members from "Dear White People" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story."

NOTE: On Friday (5/25/18), CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "The Late Late Show - JC-ENC." The telecast is excluded from the weekly averages. CBS' averages are based on four days (Monday - Thursday).

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Dan Harris, Juju Chang and Byron Pitts. Steven Baker is executive producer. The program airs weeknights, from 12:35-1:05 a.m. EDT, on The ABC Television Network. Together with "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," "Nightline" is part of ABC's winning late-night strategy of airing news and entertainment programming.
