With a repeat "Modern Family" and a bloopers clip-show "The Goldbergs," ABC's "The Middle" and "black-ish" returned steady with their most recent originals two weeks ago, while "Nashville grew 13% from the prior week in Adults 18-49.
"The Middle" (8:00-8:30 p.m. - 6.7 million and 1.6/6 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "The Middle" earned a strong second in its half-hour among Adults 18-49 (1.6/6) to CBS' "Survivor," outdelivering its scripted competition on
FOX by 33% (1.2/5 for "Rosewood") and
NBC by 78% (0.9/3 for "Heartbeat").
"black-ish" (9:30-10:00 p.m. - 5.0 million and 1.5/5 in AD18-49):
Building 15% on the "Modern Family" encore in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC's "black-ish" took second to Fox's "Empire" in the slot among Adults 18-49 (1.5/5). And despite coming out of a repeat, "black-ish" held 100% if its Adult 18-49 rating from its last original airing (on 4/13/16).
"Nashville" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.8 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
At 10:00 p.m., ABC's "Nashville" grew week to week in Total Viewers (+3% - 3.8 million vs. 3.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (+13% - 0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3). Live + 3 Day Ratings for last Wednesday (4/6/16): "Nashville" was last Wednesday's biggest broadcast gainer among Adults 18-49 with a +63% jump over its L+SD rating.
Projections Rationale:
Lifts vs. L+SD are based on 2015-16 season averages for originals (excluding the premiere).
Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).
New Series: Based on similar series.
A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 48% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate Nielsen measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.
